The Creek
Wanting to block out a bathroom glass door I cut tiny pieces of colored glass and glued them to the large glass piece. Using the theme of our spring fed creek that runs across the back of our property, I went to work, excited to make the picture resemble looking out the door into the country.
The Lacy Branch Creek is on the Audubon Society website as a great place for bird watching. Many dragonflies also congregate along the banks in the lush ferns. Tadpoles, minnows, frogs, and tadpoles are fun to catch and release at the creek.
And the as always, the water is so cool and refreshing. It is wonderful having this creek right in my backyard!
Bluebird
There are many bluebirds in East Texas. The Eastern bluebird is the most common. Bluebirds represent happiness!

I made the Bluebird first. After determining his size I then worked on the upper right corner creating a nest and tree.
I also wanted to give the appearance he was hiding in a thick tropical oasis.
Sunlight needed to shine through so as I worked I added the curly yellow pieces of glass.

The Vine
Needing to have movement I created a vine with berries and leaves that would continue on through the whole picture.
It is easier to create your movement item first and then fill around the background.
It is interesting how as you find one answer to your mosaic, it will lead to what you should do next
Never when I am working can I visualize a complete picture.

Large Flowers
Large items were needed to give variety. Too many small items get lost and seem messy.
Adding large items gives you a good reason to add your favorite colors.
Giving the flowers movement helps.

Wispy Flowers
Long flowing petals give a pretty soft look to the picture.
The bird looks comfortable setting on this flower.
Long green leaves growing in different directions also gives movement.
Glass Table Top
This was the first mosaic piece I ever made. It took around three months to make. I hand cut all the pieces of glass for this mosaic.
